Much of my work begins with people navigating a change, evaluating an opportunity, or facing an important financial decision. It might be retirement, a business decision, an investment that has become a large part of someone's wealth, or simply whether the plan they have still fits the life they want. I like getting to know the people behind those decisions, understanding what matters to them, and making sure they understand the choices in front of them before we decide what comes next.
I began my career in financial services in 2008, when many client conversations centered on market losses that were still occurring. That experience taught me an important lesson early on: owning an investment you do not fully understand is a risk in itself. That perspective continues to shape how I evaluate investments, both those I recommend and those clients already own.
Today I work with retirees, business owners, employees and executives, and families at different stages of building and managing wealth. Some situations are relatively straightforward. Others are more complex, involving decisions such as managing company stock and Net Unrealized Appreciation strategies, choosing among pension payout options, planning for the future of a closely held business, or navigating estate and legacy planning where tax considerations can have a significant impact on the outcome. The complexity changes from client to client, but the goal does not: understand the situation, talk through the options, and make a decision we can explain.
Many of the families we work with have been with the team through career changes, retirements, moves, and other major transitions. Those longstanding relationships matter to me. Financial decisions become clearer when we understand not only what someone owns, but the business they built, the company where they spent much of their career, the people they care about, and the future they hope to create. Working as a team helps to ensure the planning, analysis, and follow-through are supported by shared knowledge rather than relying on any one person. Aundie and I live in the Oklahoma City area with our son, Sage. We support City Center, an Oklahoma City nonprofit that works with youth and families in under-resourced neighborhoods. Aundie and I are also regulars at Motors in the Alley, the monthly car meet in Automobile Alley downtown. Outside of work, I enjoy golf, travel, and following Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and the Thunder.
